Light Up the Holidays
When the weather gets colder, the days shorter and the nights longer, and you have to wear at least three layers of clothing to survive the mean wind chill that cuts at your face, you have one thing to still look forward to before the end of the year: the Holidays! It’s the time to decorate the home, practice your baking skills, buy the turkey and wrap the presents, and of course string up the lights. Sure, sometimes it can be hard work to make sure all the lights works and are placed evenly, but seeing everyone else’s hard work and beauty all around you adds a bit of magic to the season. The Denver Botanical Gardens likewise tries to bring out the best of this time of year through its Blossoms of Light event, and with a five minute drive from Cherry Creek it’s hard to miss out on all the wonder when Alexan Cherry Creek Apartments come around.
The Denver Botanical Gardens is a perfect venue to explore natural beauty from all around the world, featuring exhibits that display both international foliage and local flora, and since it’s so large – a whopping 24 acres of multiple demonstrations and gardens – and changes seasonally it’s hard to see everything they have to offer in a short time frame. There are also education opportunities through their main facility, a children’s garden, and other interactive exhibits to aid all ages in learning about horticulture and preservation.
“Blossoms of Light” is a seasonal event from November 25th all the way through New Year’s 2017, all themed around Christmas and the Holiday season; the events starts at 5:30p and continues until 9p. Most of the art displays and gardens will be decorated with beautiful lights and other decorations to accent the natural beauty of the foliage. Hot chocolate and other holiday favorites will be served to keep warm and refreshed, and special HoloSpex glasses in order to view the lights in a magical filter. Tickets are available through the standard admission of $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and military, and $10 for children 3-15 years of age, while special discounts are available for members and groups of fifteen or more, and the tiniest toddlers and babies can enter for free; parking is free along with our nearby garage lot.
Go ahead and gaze at the wonder as the Holiday countdown continues, and enjoy all other beauties of the Denver Botanical Gardens. Visit Denver this winter and then consider making your stay permanent at Alexan Cherry Creek next January.
